Abstract

America is obsessed with beauty, younker and weight. We are forced fed someone elses mind of beauty on a daily basis. It seems that eitherone on picture is beautiful, slim and young. Cosmetic surgery is a lucrative business. It seems that no one is satisfied with the looks that they were born with. Dont equal your eyes? Well with the right amount of bills and a scalpel you can change them, as well as every other aspect of your body.

Beauty Standards in America: The Effects on Men and Women
In the last decade on American television there has been at least a half a dozen body, teeth, and hair make-over shows. Never at a shortage for contestants, are the television networks and mass media brainwash the American public on the standard of beauty? Who truly establishes the standards of beauty in the first place? (Kuchinsky, 2008). The first social function to remember is that the standard of what and who is considered beautiful constantly continues to change. (Kuchinsky, 2008) .




This issue is not new, however the extent to which it is invading the lives of younger girls and the lengths to which women will go to achieve unrealistic physical beauty is an undercurrent in the lives of virtually all women in the unify States. Not further are women in the United States spending much of their coin on cosmetic products, but are taking change magnitude drastic measures to alter their appearances through surgical means.
Money played out on cosmetic surgery and non-surgical aesthetic procedures is increasing drastically among all women, including younger women and women of color. Women are spending huge amounts of money on cosmetic surgical procedures and the numbers are increasing. near 11.7 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the United States in 2007.
