In the fourth or fifth century B.C. In Northern India, Buddhism was founded, tradition completelyy founded by a man named Siddhartha Gautama or Buddha The Awakened One. Buddha is also known as Siddhartha, which center means He who has reached the goal. Many believe that he lived from 563 to 483 B.C., although his exact life snip is uncertain. Siddhartha passed through many trials, and
practiced innate self denial, seeking religious insight and a resolution to the struggles of human
existence. While meditating under the Bodhi tree at the age of 35 he reached enlightenment and taught his followers about his new uncanny understanding. At the c ar of understanding there were four terrible truths: 1. All living beings suffer, 2. The origin of this suffering is desire for all material possessions, power and so on, 3.Desire can be overcome, 4. on that point is a path that leads to release from desire. This way is called the Noble multiple path: duty views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right concentration, and right mindfulness.
Buddhism incorporates a variety of rituals and practices which complicate meditation, which is mental concentration and mind-fulness. Mantras, which are sacred sounds, Muncyr which are symbolic representationic hand gestures.
The main goal of Buddhists is to achieve Nirvana, Nirvana is an savant state, once in this state the individuals are free of ignorance, greed, and suffering. The Buddhist people also use prayer wheels, reciting mantros with the turn of a wheel. Munasticism, pilgrimage, and visiting sacred sites are part of this religion. The sacred symbol for Buddhism is the Dharmachakra, or wheel of the law. It has 8 spokes to represent the multiple Path.
In Buddhism there are two large branches that are mostly recognized, Theravada Buddhism (School of Elders), as well as Mahayana Buddhism (Great Vehicle).
