Since they are base on a true fiction, the book and movie signalize the same basic story. The movie is good but as is usually the case is the book is better. The book includes many expatiate that are absent in the movie. The book gives the reader a much better idea of what motivated Mccandless to the life he chose.
The movie made it easier for people to feel for Chris because he was cozy and gentle. It allowed people to admire him for pursuing, his dreams. However, the book made it seem equal he was foolish and selfish, and was caught up in this illogical mindset. Roman, Andrew, and I stay up well past midnight, trying to pretend sense of McCandlesss life and death, yet his essence mud slippery, vague, elusive.(p. 186) This left people to think that he deserved to draw for his arrogance. While portrayed as a harsh contribution in the book, Chris father Walt is seen as an even harder character in the movie, they pushed Walts character even more, adding more tension amid Chris and himself.
