Culturally Competent Healthcare
Let’s be honest, the States is not just made up of homegrown people anymore. There are more and more of immigrants who are life history amongst us. By 2020, there leave be a 35% increase in ethnic minorities in this country(Goldsmith, 2000). We cannot turn our heads and relieve oneself that they do not exist. Instead, we must embrace them and learn their agriculture and modal value of life. The alike(p) is true in healthcare. They need the same medical treatment and check some of the same enigmas. The problem is how do we cross the street to reach them. The western way of dealing with illnesses and disease is not everyone’s way careless(predicate) if they live in the U.S. or not. We as healthcare providers have to acknowledge that and find alternatives to help all people disdain their distinguishable view on healthcare.
In this paper, I leave alone discuss how two different hospitals, New York Hospital medical examination Center of Queens and Howard Medical Center took a tin and began to make changes of their healthcare delivery in their communities. I bequeath discuss the two hospitals’ different strategies on how they went roughly devising internal and external changes to suit their culturally different cultures. I will also give my opinion on whether or not I agree with how each facility went about making their changes, or if I would have chose a different route.
The first facility that I will discuss will be the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens(NYHQ). This exceptional hospital has a strong Korean and Chinese found population making up about 47 share of the local community(Wolf, 2001).
