The world wildlife fund for nature (WWF) is a renowned international civil society and the worlds leading, independent saving organisation. It was formed in 1961 and is focused on finding sustainable ways to protect the Earth. A civil society refers to: both organization or movement that works in the neighborhood between the household, the private sector and the state, to negotiate matters of public c at a timern. They complicate non-government organisations (NGOs), community groups, trade unions, academic institutions and faith-based organisations. Initially, the WWF was only concerned with the breastplate of endangered species; however, it now also implicates all aspects of nature conservation. These aspects include: climate change and global warming, forest conservation, freshwater ecosystems, devil dog ecosystems, species and biodiversity, sustainability, agriculture, toxins, microeconomic policies and trade, conservation of landscapes and habitats and investment. Globally, the WWF has over five million (5,000,000) supporters in over 100 different countries.
Since its formation in 1961, the WWF has been amenable for many environmental successes on both a local anesthetic scale and on an international scale. One of these includes their work in the Danube region.




In 1992, the WWF commenced work in the Danube region, with its main concern creation the protection and conservation of the Danube River. They expanded the operation in 1994 and once again in 2000, to include the European Union (EU) body of water Framework Directive. In 2000, the fund secured agreements with the heads of state of Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine, to restore 2,236 km2 of flood plain to form a 9,000 km2 Lower Danube Green Corridor. This corridor has reduced the do of floods by approximately 40%, restored biodiversity, improved water quality, and has since deepen the living conditions of local communities by 60%.
