Both books are about a dystopian society that displays alternate style of living and, in both books, there are trusted concepts that the people must abandon in order to conform. brook newfangled World was first published in 1932. previous to the original publishing date, the Great Depression and the recovery from World War I were affecting the United Kingdoms economy. The Great Depression did not die d make until 1932. London, at this time, was far from what Huxley thought was the perfect society, so he wrote about his Utopian version of London in Brave New World. Anthem was first published in 1938. The mount of Anthem is a small city that is a fictitious character of a larger one ran by the World Council. The tarradiddle of the protagonist in Anthem reflects the authors own life when making an escape from her own country and legal proceeding to change her name and lead a different lifestyle. Anthem is about an outcast in an egalitarian society that rebels against the average of the society and chooses to live as an individual.

The protagonists in Brave New World and Anthem are impacted by the betrothal between individuality and conformity in their societies. In the utopian society of Brave New World, children were created artificially in seek tubes and conditioned from babies until their adolescent stage. All of the babies were not created, or decanted as they called it, equally. There were multiple ranks among the people. Alphas were the highest and the smartest, Betas were the second highest, Gammas were the average people, and Deltas and Epsilons were the lowest.
