The rate of annoyance on the University of Illinois campus is growing each year as the imprint with students of safety on campus is declining. Alone in 2008 there were 85 burglary offenses, 13 car theft offenses, 11 robbery offenses, 11 forcible rape offenses, one forcible fondling offense, and twain illegal weapons arrests (University of Illinois Division of Public Safety website). The feeling of safety students should assume when attending our University shouldn’t be fear; it should be safe, comfortable. Not only is fear instilled in the students, but as well as their pargonnts. Parents should also feel safe direct their children hundreds, sometimes thousands, of miles away from home. There are many ideas on how the University can improve its security. Although funding is limited, the U of I could extend its lighting on campus in the not-so-well lit areas, offer seminars on campus safety, offer more self defense classes and promote them better, and emergence their police presence, which would ease the parent’s worries of sending their children to college.



Rapes, muggings, and robberies are increasing annu completelyy, therefore, campus security needs to be more render and needs to grow because it is important for this university to uphold and maintain its report card in our society as well as all over the nation for inquiring students.
